Just Sniffing Around

I decided to sniff around this matter about whether dog trainers at Hollywood Paws are the real deal...since the lawsuit taken against them claims that they are not "real" Hollywood animal trainers, and that Hollywood Paws is not union affiliated as they claim.

I see that Hollywood Paws never claimed to be a part of this union-only that all of their animal trainers are members of International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 399 -meaning they are part of an elite group of animals trainers and wranglers that make up this important entertainment industry union. http://members.aol.com/tlocal399/399.html

So this is pretty typical Hollywood...very "tabloid" of these plaintiffs. They seen to just be putting the spin on the truth when the truth is so easily discovered. Union animal trainers with film/TV and commercial credits on their resumes are being accused of not being the real deal.

There are alot of things in Hollywood that aren't real, but this is certainly not one of them!

The Doggone Truth About Hollywood!

So, who am I? Well, I am an artist and actress, and a lover of animals...I know alot about all of these things, and I have been through it all in Hollywood. The ups, downs and the gossip. I know how things get twisted and thrown into the rumor mill.

While the tabloid gossip machine makes tons of cash for some, they can destroy the lives of others. Usually that stuff is twisted far from the truth, spun from something that was wrong in the first place or just entirely nothing more than a box of cat litter. I am not partial to cat litter.

Let me talk about a particularly upsetting falsehood about something I happen to know alot about. I have studied with those who are tops in their field for my craft. The same is true for dogs. They should train with the top trainers given what you expect them to do for your life together.

If you want them to be actors, like myself, it would be no different than when I train for a great upcoming role. But many folks with stars in their eyes seem to not understand the way Hollywood works, and falsehoods start going around town about things that couldn't be further from the truth. There is something going around about a training facility that I happen to know to be tops in dog training and respected in the industry.

Apparently, some ill-informed person is claiming that they did not get any dog acting roles for their pooch after training and are now suing this training facility, Hollywood Paws! Are you kidding me? I have trained with the best coaches myself, and I am a great performer but that does not mean I am promised a role on any show or film!

As far as agents, they cannot promise a performer of the human kind any jobs or roles-but you darn well better be ready when the opportunity comes up. And even then, as great as a performer you might be, they might give that part to another actor because they had green eyes and yours are like mine, a beautiful shade of brown...that is just the way this business works!

If you can't handle rejection, if you can't be patient for an opportunity, and if you have expectations that are unrealistic...(i.e. that if you are a trained and skilled performer, you will be booked by your agent) then you are in the wrong biz. It is the same for working dog actors as it is for humans.

I noticed the action against this dog training facility even claimed they lied about being a licensed talent agency for the dog actors. They claimed in this lawsuit that it was a statutory requirement in the state of California. While true for the human talent agencies, not so for dog talent agencies--a total spin of the truth clogging up our court system.

It seems once more that humans with misinformation, a taste for stardom and no Hollywood savvy have to resort to lies and spinning the truth because they didn't get what they wanted. It reminds me that a world gone to the dogs wouldn't be such a bad thing.
